  • What a Wonderful World

Being his first series, What a Wonderful World remains Asano’s most representative and successful work to date.Composed of vignettes from the daily lives of a group of people inhabiting an ordinary neighborhood somewhere in Tokyo, the series is actually a comment about modern life itself and how we can survive in it despite all its rigors.Amusing, melancholic, funny, strange, thought-provoking—Asano effortlessly shifts from one mood to another, creating stories and characters that are profoundly human and thus always involving. It’s a shame that not everyone will find the subjects the author describes equally appealing since some of them are distinctly Japanese. But overall, it’s a great collection that any discerning manga reader should check out.

  • What The Skylark Says

"I think about the same things every day. I hope for the same things every day. Perhaps I was born in the wrong dimension; I feel that this is my true world... Maybe the world I was first born in was fake. Because- take a look, this world is beautiful. Only in this world do I feel happy."

  • Wild Cats

    From Dragon Voice Project]:

If animals could speak, what would they say? This is a story about an abandoned lion that got picked up and raised as a cat.

It's highly entertaining and very amusing. And it's all from the lion's perspective... If you're a Reiko Shimizu fan or an animal lover, you should definitely check out this manga. I think everyone can find enjoyment in this work of hers that is for once not science-fictional, etc. Nothing "scary", generally this is a "safe" manga... Just try it out!!!
